Ryder, Healthy Meals and Races

Nothing beats heading over to my future sister in laws house after work and getting my hands on this little feller.

Of course once I get there I have to do a little photo session.

He has finally got to the age where he has started to smile. It will just melt your heart.

At this point I think he was probably thinking, really Aunt Mel? How many pictures are you going to take?

So I moved to video :)

But after a while I think we wore him out. So sweet.

Next I want to share a few of my meals I have had the past couple of days.

First up my breakfast yesterday.
For me breakfast is my most important part of the day. What I have for breakfast decides how the rest of my meals and day will go.
Yesterday I had a 2 egg omelet with spinach (no cheese) and a large banana. This is such a filling breakfast and it's under 300 calories. With a breakfast like this I am set up for success the rest of the day.

Next up, my snacking.
Snacking can kill an entire day of healthy eating, well for me at least. I have gotten really good with packing snacks for work because let's face there are always yummy looking snacks in the office. I feel like it is someones birthday every day because there is always cake around. A snack that I really love packing is red peppers and hummus. It is crunchy, low fat/ calorie and well just plain delicious.

Next dinners.
Yesterday after work I headed over to a cookout. Now eating healthy at a cookout can be tricky because you don't prepare your own food. So I stopped by the grocery store before and grabbed a couple of things to add to my dinner to make sure I stayed on track. You know what I'm talking about, at cookouts there are always those yummy looking sides like mac and cheese, rolls, cookies, etc. So last night I ended up just cutting a small piece off of the fiances steak and then added some healthy sides to the plate.

Last but not least I wanted to share that it is RACE season for me. I am not a runner outside when it is cold. You will not find me running outside in the cold unless someone is chasing me. So now that it is warming up I am getting super excited to get back to races. My first race of the season is going to be April 26th. My goal is to at least run 1 5k or 10k a month and then at the end of the year run my 1st half marathon. So if you know of any good races let me know :) I also would love some running partners!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!! I have an exciting weekend ahead of me so make sure you check out Monday!!

Today's Workout

Happy Thursday Blogger Friends!!

I had more to share today but silly me forgot my charger so I can't add my pictures to my computer. ( I just got a smart phone and still don't know how to use it, so I do things the old school way)

But I can share my workout this morning. It was a good one.
But first a little humor.
This is totally me!
At the gym I always find a treadmill with someone beside me and for some reason it always makes me run longer.

Now to my workout this morning.

I will make sure to remember my charger tomorrow and have more to share :)

I'M BACK

Yesterday when I got home I had made my mind up, I was getting back to my running routine. So I slipped into running shoes and headed out the door. It was a beautiful day so it felt great to get out and enjoy.

Since it was my first time back to running in a while I didn't want to go crazy. So I kept it short and sweet.

Workout:
20 minutes- run 1 minute, speed walk 1 minute
20 lunges
20 crunches
20 side crunches both sides
20 reverse crunches
20 lunges

I only burnt 209 calories but it was a great way to get me motivated and get back in a routine.

After my run I hopped in the shower and then enjoyed a nice big bowl of Special K cereal with
unsweetened almond milk.

I got a good nights rest and then woke up bright and early to get in my morning workout. I used to go to the gym every morning before work but like I mentioned I have slacked off a little. But now I am BACK! Time to get bathing suit ready, right ladies?

Todays' workout:
20 mins - run 2 mins, speed walk 1 min.
weight machines ( working my arms is one of my favorite things to do)

Then I got ready and headed to work. I love that work has a cafe. They always have healthy options which is good if I don't feel like cooking or bringing my own breakfast.

I am going to be really focusing on fitness the next couple of months so I hope you will check it out!

beauty box 5

Normally I am waiting impatiently for my Birchbox to arrive in my mail but that wasn't the case yesterday. I had a new box to try!

beauty box 5!

When I got home from work I quickly went to my mailbox and then headed over to my hammock. It was such a beautiful day I wanted to soak up as much sunshine as possible..

As I relaxed away in my hammock I opened my box to some great samples. I was very impressed with beauty box 5. It had a lot of items that I use daily.

I started by looking at the card that explained everything you would need to know regarding the samples. The great thing about all of the samples, they are not crazy expensive and the sample sizes are pretty large.

First up my favorite thing in the box.
Tree Hut Shea Body Butter.
I normally am not a fan of Shea butter because I think it smells funny but this stuff was just plain amazing.

Next H20+
Hand and nail cream.
This is great for work. Our office is so dry my hands are always in need of a good hand cream.

Jane's Pick All Natural Hand soap
It's all natural....enough said.

Bath & Body Tools
A dual sided facial pad.

Last, a creamy makeup base.
I have been trying to wear less makeup lately and really taking better care of my face so this will be great for a little bit of touch up.

All in all I was very impressed with beauty box 5. Now the question is....do I want to continue to use Birchbox or maybe move over to beauty box 5 for a little while...or both...such hard decisions.

What is your favorite product box?

NEW WORKOUT TOMORROW MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IT OUT!!!
